Reading these pages you might wonder why not all divers have rebreathers. First and foremost it has probably something to do with the price. An inspiration rebreather cost approximately 4,000 £ plus training. This price you have to compare to a complete open circuit technical dive rig, with 4 tanks, 4 regs, wings etc.
The CCR offers more possibilities but also more sources for failures due to the complexity and electronics. The main problem is that you don't discover the failure as easily as on open circuit. This is why you must always monitor the handsets within small intervals. If the unit fails and you are not attentive, you are almost sure to die.
