Decompression
On a fully closed rebreather you get the ideal nitrox (or other mix) all the time, no matter the depth. This presents a very big advantage over open circuit diving. Diving a fully closed rebreather can be compared to open circuit diving with endless numbers of nitrox tanks and constantly switching the most beneficial one. With a CCR this happens automatically. After you choose the wanted set point for the oxygen partial pressure, the rebreather will support you by operating as an online nitrox blending station on your back. This is especially effective when doing multi level diving.
Besides the decompression advantages you also gain a physiological benefit, because the rebreather will spare you the big leaps in partial pressures.
