Active flow semi-closed rebreather
Also known as a constant mass injection rebreather, which is actually very describing. This type of rebreather is normally fed from a tank of pre-mix with relatively high oxygen content. This pre-mix is added through a nozzle into the loop in a weak but constant flow. The percentage of oxygen in the loop is dependant on the metabolism of the diver’s body, which you will have to estimate prior to the dive. For instant an EAN40 pre-mix, with a flow rate of 10 litres/minute and a metabolism of 1 litre/minute, will result in a breathing gas equivalent to an EAN33. An advantage of diving with a SCR is the gas consumption, because the consumption is not dependant on the dive depth. The SCR is a sort of "gas extender". The down faults is the uncertainty of the actual oxygen level in the loop, and the necessity of a separate bailout gas if you dive deeper than the pre-mix MOD.
