Woke up at 08:30 (UTC+9) at N64 11.911, W173 52.252 (WGS84). The ship was moving at 12 knots and the weather was still a bit rough. The weather report said that we were moving towards high pressure at the dive site but we also had a cyclone on our tail that might and might not pass through the area. At midday the waves seemed to calm a bit and it was almost dive weather at this point.
Later in the day we were informed that the ROV team needed to check trim and buoyancy of the ROV and since we had been bragging about our RIB skills all the way they thought that we should assist by driving the dingy. It was interesting to see the ROV guys work and good to get to know them before reaching the dive site. It also gave us the opportunity to test the dingy that we had plans to use as our dive platform, including the procedure for lifting it up and down by the ship’s crane.

At midnight we passed the Bering Strait, at 14 knots, but it was dark so it didn’t make much of an impression. The weather forecast was actually pretty optimistic, so we went to bed full of anticipation about the next day were we hopefully would get to touch the Tsjeluskin.
