August 15th 2004
Very early we got  out of bed and had the girls drive us to Copenhagen Airport. Although we knew that we had packed a lot of stuff, we were a bit surprised to discover that we had brought 260 kilos between the two of us.
The first challenge of the expedition was flying to Moscow with Aeroflot, but everything went smooth. In Moscow we were picked up by Andrey and Oleg’s driver. They brought two small cars so we had to split up the luggage and our selves. Honestly we both had the same thought when we saw our luggage disappear in front of us with two Russian guys we had never met before
"that's the last time I'll ever see my rebreather". We had a tight schedule to reach the next flight, and the driver was no doubt informed to waste no time. When we arrived at the next airport, on the other side of Moscow, we met the rest of the team (approximately 15 guys in all) and our entire luggage was neatly stacked with the rest of the expedition equipment, shame on us to think otherwise.
From Moscow the expedition flew to Anadyr with a local Russian airline, an experience in it self. We sat in our own section of the plain and the 9 hours flight was used to study the Tsjeluskin data and history. Everybody exchanging their research and estimations created an intense and positive feeling which helped bring the different team nationalities closer together.
