First Prototype
- "The Hairdresser Chair"
|
|
|
Actually it all started on a
weekend that we were planning to have an Inspiration "meet and dive" in
Denmark. Due to very bad weather it was unfortunately cancelled. My good
friend Kim Heigren and I decided to work on a small project we had been
discussing. Kim had found an old hydraulic cylinder that he wanted to built
into a booster. We actually finished with a usable result that afternoon.
The idea was basically to build an iron frame in which to fix the cylinder
and a normal 3 ton jack from the car. The booster required 16 pumps on the
jack for a full movement of the hydraulic cylinder, which would equal about
6 bars on a 3 litre tank (with a feed pressure of 100 bars). You can easily
imagine that it was hard work building up pressure, but it worked and we
actually used for a period.

It was later
modified with a foot pump, why it got the name "The Hairdresser Chair".
But in the end it was just to much of a hassle to work the booster why Kim
started to get new ideas. |
